Terry was born and raised in the East Kootenays. For most of her life, she has been involved in fibre arts in one form or another. Knitting, macramé, and crocheting were her first attempts to fashion usable items from yarn. While attending the Floriculture program at Olds Agricultural College, Terry took courses in spinning and dyeing fleece. The resulting yarn used for knitting proved immensely satisfying.
Since joining the Desert Sage Spinners & Weavers guild in 1990, Terry has had many opportunities for friendships and for new skill development through workshops.
Terry’s art specializes in, but is not restricted to, dyeing, spinning, and knitting. She also felts sheep’s wool, alpaca, mohair, silk and llama.
One of the guild’s tenets is to cultivate a lifelong learning atmosphere. A good test of knowledge and application is the ability to pass this on to others. In this vein, co-teaching felting and dyeing classes has opened new vistas for her.
You will find many of Terry’s pieces for sale in the Summerland and Pentiction Art Galleries and in various locations around the Oliver area.
